| The main street from Residencial Arraiana |
We reached Castelo Branco on the 18th of September. We had left Evora in the morning and visited Castelo de Vide on the way. Our plan was to continue to Monsanto on the following day and we wanted to spend a night in a town, so Castelo Branco was our choice. It is a modern town with no special things to see. We slept in a Recidencial at the main street. There were great clothes shops just downstairs with great end of the season reductions. I shopped for some clothes at Benetton at really low prices. We slept well and continued to Monsanto on the following day. It was a bit tricky to find the way out from Castelo Branco to the road number N233, but we asked some people who were very helpful (as Portuguese are) and they draw us an exact map. We drove to the direction of Penamacor and turned right to road number 239 which changed to IC31 before Monsanto. See my travelogue at my Monsanto page "The road from Castelo Branco to Monsanto" |

I would have to agree with you that CB is a good place to stay, with lots of shops. It was nice to see that you had the same difficulty as us in finding a way out of town the next day! |
