Recidencial at the beach Praia de Dona Ana and other Lagos, Portugal Hotel/Accommodation Reviews

When we left Lisbon we headed towards south and reached Lagos in Algarve in the late afternoon. I had a booking for hotel Sol e Praia that I had made via Internet. The hotel is nice but a bit shabby and rooms very basic. The advantage is the location, just 50 meters from the beach and our room had a seaview with a very big balcony that was nearly the same size as the room. It cost only 30 Euro per night for double and that was with a little extra for the seaview. There is a small swimming pool on the roof. The water was cold but I swam anyway. We stayed for 3 nights at the middle of September 2004. The breakfast was good for Portuguese standards, the normal continental breakfast + cheeses and sausages and choice of conserved fruit and cereals. The location is a bit off the center of Lagos. We had a rented car, so this was not a problem for us, but if you don't have a car, you can walk to the center in half an hour or use the minitrain that stops by the hotel.If you make a reservation via Internet, for this hotel you need to pay in advantage, your credit card will be charged within few days of your booking.
