Kuusamo is another "gateway" to Lapland. When driving to Lapland (or returning) on the eastern route, you more likely pass Kuusamo or even spend a night here. Kuusamo are is beautiful, with lots of rivers and there is also the famous Ruka skiing center with skijump hills.
We stayed a night in Kuusamo during two trips, in 1998 and 2003.
In 1998 we arrvied there from Karigasniemi and it was our last night stop in Lapland before returning to Kitee.
In 2003 it was our first night stop on our way to Lapland and from there we continued to Inari.
