Gan Hashelosha - Hebrew
Sachne - Arabic
Read interesting facts about it!This is one of my favorite places in Israel. It is located close to
Bet Shean just beside Kibbutz Nir David and many years ago (1980-81) when I was in
Kibbutz Reshafim I went there regularly. I remember that we, volunteers, went there through a pardes (grove) ,knew that there was a hole in the fence and entered to swim there also at night in the moonlight. (Of course naked! We all were young and free back then!) Ah, the memories! Today I live further away but sometimes I drive there for a day of swimming and relaxing. They have several long pools and it is a joy to swim there for a change when regularly swimming in a
swimming pool. This is Amal River that flows through Gan Hashlosha National Park. It's water is 28 C year around.. The water collects in a natural pool which was later enlarged. The riverbanks have lawns, date palm trees, tables for picnic.
You can easily spend a day here. You can also rent a cabin at Kibbutz Nir David or Kibbutz Bet Alpha and spend the night there.
The site has a
restaurant and a kiosk, but you can also bring food and have
a picnic under the date palms.
Other attractions at the site are an archealogical museum and Kangaroo (Gan Garoo) zoo.
