1.2.2008 update: after a big storm and low temperatures we have snow on the surrounding mountains. The views are so beautiful and the air is fresh. The skiing center at Mt.Hermon will open tomorrow for the first time this winter. Lots of people from all around Israel have already made their way to north to be ready for skiing tomorrow morning.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Update 18th March 2006 Check out the K8- Tel Hai Walk and Sing Path . ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Qiryat Shemona was hit by 1012 katjushas during the war with Hizbollah 12.7-14.8.2006. It became the most bombed town. Luckily there were no serious injuries and most of the rockets hit roads and unbuilt areas and there were many bush fires in the area.
See my neighbour's original idea for recycling katjushas. Don't miss a virtual tour in the local bombshelters.
K8 Paradox: For most people travelling is more risky than staying at home. In my case it could be that I am safer while I travel!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Previous events:
The latest historical events in K8 is the new wide main road that opened in March 2006 after 10 years of road works. We always used to get stuck in the road because of traffic jams, now we get delayed in 8 (!) different traffic lights but it is much easier. The cinema of K8 closed in the end of April 2005 due to lack of visitors.
Interesting facts: *See my Dan page travelogues, Metulla page TLs , Kefar Giladi and Tel Hai pages for interesting places around K8.
*See my Tiberias Lake page and especially the travelogues for more great places worth visiting and within 1-1.5 hours drive from K8.
THE GOLAN HEIGHTS TEMPORARY SOLUTIONS:
*Tips for northern Golan Heights (half an hour drive from K8) are also on these pages, as VT management thinks that Golan Heights belong to Syria and not Israel and I am not building Syrian pages before I'll visit there.
* Southern Golan Heights tips and TLs are on my Tiberias Lake page . |
| | Development Lots of new houses are built recently. Some of them are still under construction. This page is always under construction.
Here is a picture of the new wide main street, Tel Hai Bulevard. |
