San Gimignano is 27km northwest of Siena and is one of the most visited villages in Tuscany. It is built on a hilltop and looks stunning with its skyline of medevial towers which were built by feuding nobles in the 12th and 13th centuries. San Gimignano is usually full of day trippers wandering up and down the narrow streets into the numerous souvenir, olive oil, wine shops and restaurants. The town takes on a different pace and atmosphere in the evenings. |
