We spent 7 days on Corfu Island in Greece in a wonderful new villa with a big lagoon-type pool. The villa had everything we needed, from a fully-equipped kitchen and satellite TV to a basket full of books. We reserved it through the internet at Agni Travel, a local agency run by English people. Everything was perfect and we felt like super-stars. Fortunately, at that time (Greek Easter - around May 1st), the villa was empty and the rates were very good.
There were a maid coming every two days and cleaning the rooms. The people are very friendly and supported. The guys from Agni Travel came to us once in a while to check if everything was fine.
The island itself is wonderful. The Corfu Town is an architectural wonder, combining Venetian and Greek style. You must visit the bazaar and the fort.
They say that the best area on Corfu is in the nort-east, very close to Albania (you can see an Albanian village across the sea from your window). That's because the western side of the island is very windy and the waves are dangerous.
The island is literarily covered with olive trees from the peaks to the beach. At night, there are fireflies everywhere, you feel like in a fairy tale :-)
As for the rates, we paid about 900 Euros for 8 nights.
