Restaurant Name: El Somiatruites

Great food, local but original menu (see English webpage and consult the menu there), very nice atmosphere and the owner is a very nice guy ... make sure you speak a few words of catalan, he loves that and he will serve you even better!!!

Favorite Dish: It ain't a dish, it's the name :

"Somiatruites" means "dreamer"

however, "somiar" is "dream" and "truites" means "tortilla" which is a spanish omelette ... so : "a dreamer of spanish omelettes" ... but I won't say more ... ask the owner to explain when you go!!

Directions: The restaurant is located in a very narrow street in the part of the city know as "el borne", one of the most popular parts of barcelona ... check you map, cause I remember it took me some time to find it ....

Restaurant Name: Tapa Tapa

Located on the very busy Passeig de Gr�cia, sitting on the terrace isn't really a relaxing experience - it IS perfect for people-watching though - nor is sittin inside for that matter. Nonetheless the tapas are VERY good and since you'll be walking past here anyway to go see Gaud�'s houses, Battl� and La Pedrera", you might as well sit down here and have a typically Spanish lunch. Also the touristy part has its advantages : we met a crazy bunch of Japanese women who were positively hilarious!!

How is it done? Well the Spanish count the number of people in the group, multiply it by two and that 'll give them the number of tapas to order ... generally this amount is about right ... you might have to order one or two extra ones, that depends a little on your appetite.

It might be a little more expensive than average, bear in mind that "average" is 7 or 8 euros for a typical lunch menu.

Favorite Dish: Basic ingredients of a tapa-table are the patatas bravas (fried potato chunks with a sauce on top that's a little spicy) and of course NEVER forget to order the "bread with tomato" or "Pan Tomaquet" which is typically Catalan : bread with olive oil, tomato and garlic .... the basic ingredient of every Catalan meal!!
