Yemen - the Summer of 2007 This Summer I'll be going to Yemen for a Month, three weeks of which will be spent in an Arabic Course ... It's been a while since I've been in - due to an operation and lack of funds - hardly any travelling was done the past two years ... this however is about to change !!! To be continued! | My trip around the Western U.S. |
Last big trip - Summer of 2005 Because this year work has been very slow, I thought I wasn't going to be able to travel at all, however a temporal job changed my plans and thanks to this I'll be making quite the trip!!! Next Sunday I'll be leaving for the Western US and although I'll have to work during the day, I'm going to try to take advantage of my spare time as much as possible. Home can be right under your nose ... For a while there, I thought home couldn't possibly be where I was born so I wandered a little ... some plans happened, some didn't ... tried to move to Australia a long time ago, lived in Mexico for a while, came back, went to live in Spain for another while but still came back ... the Spanish pop-group Ella Balla Sola expresses it perfectly with the phrase "buscando un sitio para volver", looking for a place to return to, which is what home is ... the only place you can be sure you'll always return to ... and despite my wanderings, I think I've finally realized Belgium will always be that place ... And there you have the ideal excuse for travelling, hehehe, if you don't travel, how are you ever really going to come home!!! Okay, okay, it's a good excuse, but of course there's tons of reasons to get out and see the world ... and I think the most important one probably is enrichment ... understanding and learning to respect diversity improves tolerance, and it's exactly the lack of the latter that makes this world such an ugly place to live in sometimes ... All of you, keep travelling, cause basically, it makes of you a better person. %c*%f* |
