Amsterdam Hotel Tips by Flamaranian

I would recommend this hotel highly if travelling with young children. The hotel is very "American-Style" (usually a turn-off for me), with large rooms full of purpose-designed furniture. The large room paid off during three nights with a 3 and 5 year old!

But the best thing about this hotel was the service. Everyone smiled and did their best to be friendly, especially to the children. We normally do not use baby-sitting services, but here we did. The first night, the young woman who stayedw with our children was sweet and very nice: our children seemed to be well cared for. The second night, a vivacious young woman appeared at the appointed time (hot to trot was the way my wife put it). We went out for a romantic meal, and the kids had the time of their lives. The babysitter had previously worked in the hotel as a desk clerk, and she took the kids - in their pyjamas - on a tour of the hotel, from top to bottom. While part of me was upset that she took the kids from the room without premission, they had a great time, we were assured (after the fact) that they had been well cared for, and they seemed to know most of the hotel employees by name the next day.

The hotel breakfast was a very good buffet; it was included in our package, but I was told that it was very expensive. Still it was very good and you could 'load up' for the day.

Unique Qualities: The hotel has an indoor pool and health club, but we did not use these.

Directions: It is very near Central Station. We walked from the station to the hotel with two kids and lots of luggage in the rain, and even my wife did not complain.
