Winter Trip to Paris

Paris Eiffel Tower
I spent my first 2 weeks in Paris accompanied by my pen-pal named Vivian Noviese. Unfortunately, I do not have with me any of the pictures taken with him. He is an awesome guitarist. He works in one the jazz clubs for which Paris is so well known. I still keep a note of hwew the place was,
a club called Les Trois Maillets.

I arrived in Paris that year not only meeting him but another of my pen-pal, Rahul. The two of us armed with nothing set out to explore the city, make friends, and "party"!!! I don't remeber much though since it has been more than 10 years ago!!!!

Behind me is the most famous monument in the world (317 metres, 10,100 tonnes). Built by Gustave Eiffel in 1889 for the Universal Exhibition of which it was the star. Information, historical and technical facts on all floors, show-window/office of Gustave Eiffel on the third floor.

RAHUL

My pen-pal Rahul. He is actually from India, Mumbai and has since migrated to Paris. He owns a small grocery shop somwhere in the busy street of ............light...................??

Cannot actually remember the place?? Can anyone help me with this? Ans: Place de la Concorde (The famous obelisk!) Thanks Geisha!

Arc de Triomphe

Brief History - Commissioned in 1806 by Napoleon, shortly after his victory at Austerlitz, it was not finished until 1836. There are four huge relief sculptures at the bases of the four pillars. These commemorate The Triumph of 1810 (Cortot); Resistance , and Peace (both by Etex); and The Departure of the Volunteers, more commonly known by the name La Marseillaise (Rude). Note: The Arch is most easily (and safely) reached by tunnel from the north side of the Champs Elysées.
