Life is for learning, laughing & loving! | Above shipwreck bay in Zante Sept. 2005 |
My favourite travel pages at the moment are the 3, I have done on Peru. They are a record of an Expedition my son took part in with some people from his school. Although I didn't go I thought the photos, he came back with, were worth sharing, as were his comments.
I live in Warwickshire with my husband, son & dog. The son is in his 3rd year at Sheffield University, although this year he is living in Perpignan as part of an exchange prgramme.
I work for a small charity in Coventry as Campaigns Officer. I work with adults who have learning difficulties and support them in developing their self-advocacy skills. I passionately believe in supporting the people I work with to gain full acceptance and rights within society. Probably sounds really serious stuff, but we have a great time. For those who are interested in this work please email and ask.
In my spare time I'm studying photography so hopefully my pictures on VTwill improve. I'm taking a break from writing up my PhD so enjoying doing lots of things I haven't had time for recently, for example spending a whole day doing nothing! or devoting my time to reading a novel not a text book. I also love working in my garden. |
| | Places I love For years I avoided anywhere that involved flying, still hate it but will do short flights now. For many summers we drove to France and Brittany remains one of my favourite places. I love Paris, but doesn't everyone? Years ago i visited Istanbul and have tried to convince my husband that we should go back. Even though someone tried to buy me from a friend. Recently, Italy has been our choosen destination, the people are so welcoming. I dont like crowded places. Visiting places that other Brits. haven't taken over is usually the thing that guides our choice. Why do places have English Pubs & Sunday Roasts? In September 2005 we visited Zante in Greece, although the island itself is beautiful, the resort we stayed in fitted the very things I have moaned about here. |
Some special places- Pisa The Camposanto ~ cemetary legend says Crusdaers in the twelfth century came back with soil from the Holy Land for Pisa's Gentry to be buried in.
| | Pisa Camposanto Frescoes Allied bombs destroyed the roof and damaged the cloister's frescoes. They are in the process of restoring them. |
The UK We try to get lots of weekend breaks in the UK. In the sumer we take the tent & the dog, at other times the dog stays at home & we find a hotel. The dog loves his little holidays and we have had to buy a bigger tent because he took over the last one.
| | a dog's life Monty is the 3rd of our dogs. He is a rescue dog and is German Shepherd X Rottwheiller. He was bred for the police force but proved to be a coward. He was put out for adoption to a private home. We are his 5th owners so he has had a bit of an unsettled start in life. We have had him 3 years and he is staying! |
Mystery photo Can anyone guess where this beautiful sunset was? No one guessed it was The gower in South Wales, one of Wales's best kept secret, so why am I telling you? For more sunset pictures check out my album, linked to my homepage.
