Statue of Liberty
It is going to take a long time to get on the ferry and out to Liberty Island. Before getting in line to board the ferry you should get a donut and coffee at the portable sidewalk stand. Also while you wait you can send off a few at a time in your party to see the The Sphere which formerly stood at the World Trade Center as a symbol of world Peace. The Sphere was damaged on 9/11 2001 and is on display a couple of blocks from where you wait to board the ferry. It is a memorial for all who lost their lives at the World Trade Center as a result of a terrorist attack that day. Also while you wait for the ferry for Liberty Island street performers do such entertaining feats as contort themselves into a small box for tips from the onlookers.

There is tight security before getting onto the ferry and if you go up the observation deck and view inside the Statue of Liberty another long security screening is required.

The Structural Engineer for the Statue of Liberty was Gustave Eiffel who also built the Eiffel tower. The Statue of Liberty was completed in Paris in June 1884. The park is open daily 8:30 AM to 6:00 PM.

The Statue of Liberty features 7 points in her crown, one for each of the seven continents. Snapple real fact # 328
