Royal Elephant in the Pink City Elephants are prominent in Jaipur. You can ride them or just admire them. There are certain times of the day that the elephants are resting and are not available to give rides.
Here are the sights that you should see in Jaipur in my order of importance:
Amber Palace Hawa Mahal Palace City Palace Raj Mahal Palace Hotel Tiger Fort Nagarah Fort Jal Mahal Water Palace Albert museum |
| | Pink City Hawa Mahal Palace built in 1799 by Maharaja Sawaj Pratap Singh is easy to get too just inside the entrance of the old City.
Just opposite the front of the palace are some good shops. (oops I just found out that these are not good shops. I have put information about a much better shop) This is a great place though for a picture of Hawa Mahal up the stairs on the top of the shops.
From Hawla Mahal you can see The Nahargarh Fort or Tiger Fort was built by Sawai Raja Jai Singh in 1734. There is a great view of the city from Nahargarh Fort. |
| | The Jal Mahal, also known as the Water Palace was built in mid 18th century by Madho Singh.
The Water Palace only lives up to its name after the rainy season when the lake is full and the palace is surrounded by water. |
