Hi everyone!!
My name is Michela (or Micky) and I am writing to you from Melbourne, Australia.
I always say that I was born in Italy, I have Russian blood but my soul is from Australia!! :)
I have been living here for almost 5 years and I am realizing my big dream!!
Every day I understand more how much I enjoy this country and how much I love living here!!! :)
This picture was taken on the 1st SEptember 2007 when I went back to Italy to get married to Marco! we had an amazing time!!!!
I received this poem few days ago... and I think it is so wonderful! So I want to share it with you all!!!
"Die slowly..." by Pablo Neruda
He who becomes the slave of habit, who follows the same routes every day, who never changes pace, who does not risk and change the color of his clothes, who does not speak and does not experience, dies slowly.
He or she who shuns passion, who prefers black on white, dotting ones "i's" rather than a bundle of emotions, the kind that make your eyes glimmer, that turn a yawn into a smile, that make the heart pound in the face of mistakes and feelings, dies slowly.
He or she who does not turn things topsy-turvy, who is unhappy at work, who does not risk certainty for uncertainty, to thus follow a dream, those who do not forego sound advice at least once in their lives, die slowly.
He who does not travel, who does not read, who does not listen to music, who does not find grace in himself, she who does not find grace in herself, dies slowly.
He who slowly destroys his own self-esteem, who does not allow himself to be helped, who spends days on end complaining about his own bad luck, about the rain that never stops, dies slowly.
He or she who abandon a project before starting it, who fail to ask questions on subjects he doesn't know, he or she who don't reply when they are asked something they do know, die slowly.
Let's try and avoid death in small doses, reminding oneself that being alive requires an effort far greater than the simple fact of breathing. Only a burning patience will lead to the attainment of a splendid happiness. _________________ |
| | A beautiful poem written by a German poet in 1920 A French friend of mine who lives in Irkutsk, Siberia has sent me another beautiful poem.... to share with you my good friends from all around the world!
Desiderata.
Go placidly among the noise and haste
and remember what peace there may be in silence.
As far as possible, without surrender,
be on good terms with all persons.
Speak your truth quietly and clearly and listen to others,
even the dull and ignorant, they too have their story.
If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain and bitter,
for there will always be greater or lesser persons than yourself.
Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans,
keep interested in your own career, however humble.
It is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.
Exercise caution in your business affairs, for the world is full of trickery,
but let this not blind you to what virtue there is.
Many persons strive for high ideals,
and everywhere life is full of heroism.
Be yourself, especially do not feign affection, neither be cynical about love,
for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment,
it is perennial as the grass.
Take kindly the council of the years,
gracefully surrendering the things of youth.
Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortunes,
but do not distress yourself with imaginings.
Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.
Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself.
You are a child of the universe, no less than the trees and the stars.
You have a right to be here, and whether or not it is clear to you,
no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.
Therefore, be at peace with your God, whatever you conceive Him to be,
and whatever your labor and aspirations in the noisy confusion of life.
Keep peace with your soul, with all the sham drudgery and broken dreams,
it is still a beautiful world.
Be careful, strive to be happy |
