One can run out of superlatives, when describing Dubrovnik, known effectionately as the 'Pearl of the Adriatic'.

The humming atmosphere of wandering the cities many glorious little stone avenues and alleyways........
dining out in one of the many hidden back-alley restaurants....
the bright lanterns that characterize the glistening appearance of the Old town at night.......
- all of these have become treasured memories of mine.

Climbing the historic old walls

Whatever part of the Old Town you see is a picture postcard view....... it is just so charming and quaint.

Although the realisation of its war-ravaged past lives long in the memory, especially on a walk along its gigantic city walls..... where many of the buildings' rooftops are still peppered with gunshot wounds from former ruthless attacks.

Late 1991 was the last attack on the city that most people will remember all too well...... 2000shells brutalised the Town, when the city was ravaged by the federal army of the former Yugoslavia.

Sunset over Zupski Bay

At dusk at this time of year the Dalmatian coastline is treated to beautiful sunsets on most evenings. You can witness exotic shades of orange and deep red with flashes of purple, as the sun disappears into the horizon beyond Dalmatia's hundreds of tiny islands.

Anywhere on the many headlands and clifftops that perimeter the coastline, you can find an enticing spot to sit and admire the beauty of the world.
