Chickens feet anyone?

I stayed on Lantau Island when i visited Hong Kong, in the beautiful Wang Tong village in Mui Wo.

The island contains such attractions as the Tian Tan Buddha (yep the first buddha i saw) in the Po Lin Monastery, which can usually be seen from any point on the island.

It also contains two tall peaks; Lantau and Sunset (both just under 1000m above sea level), which have a trail that links the two, and are great for climbing, and for breathtaking views over the hundreds of islands that stretch to the horizon.

Hong Kong Island and Kowloon are completely different in themselves.
HK is very clean, safe and scenic, whilst a short hop across the harbour on the Star Ferry brings you to Kowloon and Mong Kok. Some of the most densely-packed residential area in the world, and some of the liveliest (and grubbiest) night spots in the area.

The New Territories, i heard were worth a look, and I jumped on a tour bus organised through the Tourism Board. And they offered yet another variation on life in HK.

I loved my time in HK, and hopefully my tips will be useful in helping you to enjoy it as much as I did.

Awww..... ickle Haki at Ocean Park

Heres my little cousin Haki, looking for directions to the candyfloss stand in Ocean Park, HK Island
(aint he cute!!)

We spent a day there, in which it rained for most of the time, but this worked in our favour, as it scared a large amount of the chinese kids on summer holidays into not coming.

Leaving all the rides to us
*hahaha*
and we certainly made use of it! Although remind me never ever to go on The Abyss again, having just had lunch.......

Pros and Cons
  • Pros:clean, cheap transport, plenty to do for tourists, lang kwai fong and wan chai by night
  • Cons:can be expensive to eat and drink out
  • In a nutshell:very very humid, so much to do

Aha! Someone else who likes the islands- best place to stay in HK. Nice pics. That is the Tsing Ma Bridge. Think the smaller is called Tsing Yi, not sure though. Did you go to Peng Chau? Cheers, Jem
