Pink Moss Festival at Takinoue

Surrounded by mountains, Takinoue is a beautiful town with many waterfalls and valleys. First planted in Takinoue Park around 1957, pink moss has flourished and its flowers now cover all of the surrounding hills in an approximately 100,000 m2 area. The Moss Pink Festival, held from May to June, provides many attractions, including sightseeing flights in a helicopter that offer a view of the flower carpets from the sky. Takinoue is also known for its peppermint production.
