The Bridge on the River Kwai is an Academy Award-winning 1957 World War II war film. The River Kwai Bridge is a grim reminder of the horrors of war and the pain and suffering that the POWs went through to build the 415 km long railway between Thailand and Burma in 1942 - 1943. The serenity of the River Kwai belies the horrific conditions under which POWs and impressed labourers worked, suffered and died - a sad reminder of the inhumanities and atrocities suffered under Japanese occupation of Thailand. |
