This is one of the greatest zoo I have ever visited.
Ok, I am not a great fan of this kind of place but I was truly and positively suprised but the quality of the "exhibitor" and the exhibition place.
This is great great place to go with kids

The Merlion - Singapore

The Merlion

The Merlion

Designed by Mr Fraser Brunner, a curator of the Van Kleef Aquarium, the lion head represents the lion spotted by Prince Sang Nila Utama when he re-discovered Singapura in 11 AD, as recorded in the "Malay Annals". The fish tail of the Merlion symbolises the ancient city of Temasek (meaning “sea” in Javanese) by which Singapore was known before the Prince named it “Singapura” (meaning “lion” (singa) “city” (pura) in Sanskrit), and represents Singapore’s humble beginnings as a fishing village.

The Merlion was first designed as an emblem for the Singapore Tourism Board (STB) in 1964

a piece of shade on sentosa beach - Singapore

a piece of shade on sentosa beach

Sentosa Beach

Sentosa has several beaches and it can make a wonderful place to enjoy the see although the view can be a bit "industrial". Nevertheless (no surprise) it is very clean and well equiped. Usually, these beaches are linked to a restaurant or a hotel so to use the facilities, you may pay a fee or have a drink or some food.

The picture figures a beach near the end of the luge track.

Sentosa Sky Ride

Another funny and interesting attraction in Sentosa is the sky ride.
After the cable car from the MRT station, you can once more, enjoy being in the air. Your lifeline ? Just a cable/rope.
Nice view over sentosa, the port and the city.

kid on luge track

Luge in Sentosa Island

This is not exactly the kind of luge we know in northern europe but it is good fun anyway.
The track is nice but to me it is a little bit short to really get a sense of speed.
If you have to queue, this can also be leathal as very few shade is available.
This is really a place to bring your kids !

Batteries - Singapore

Batteries

FORT SILOSO

On a Hill of Sentosa Island, you can visit Fort Siloso which was a British stronghold since 19th Century till WWII.
The visit is really interesting and very educative as always in Singapore. If you do not like to look at the guns and batteries, at least you can enjoy a nice view over the bay.

Directions: Take the Sentosa Bus from Seah Im Interchange (just next to Harbourfront MRT station). On Sentosa, take the Blue or Red Line buses

Changi War Museum

A very interesting museum that no one shoul miss !

It explains the war, the life of singaporeans under the war, the ordeal of the pow, ...

For a complete visit, pls allow at least 2 hours.

From the Changi museum website :

The Changi Museum was relocated to its new home on 15 February 2001 and was officially opened by our Trade and Industry Minister BG George Yeo. This date was also chosen to coincide with the 59th Anniversary of the fall of Singapore to the Japanese in 1942. The new Changi Museum replaces the Old Changi Prison Chapel and Museum (built in 1988) that was relocated to its current site to make way for the expansion of Changi Prison.

In honouring the spirit and commitment of those who rose from the depths of adversity, the Museum inspires future generations to come and deepen their appreciation of the heroic and inspirational stories that unfolded in Changi during the war. The Changi Museum is dedicated to all those who lived and died in Singapore, in particular the Changi area, during the dark years of World War II.

Through documentation of significant events of the Japanese Occupation, the Museum also serves as an important educational institution and resource centre. As for the Prisoners-of-War (POWs) and their families, it is a site that allows for closure of the many emotional scars inflicted by the war years.

Address: 1000 Upper Changi Road North, Singapore 507707

Directions: Take SBS bus 2 from Tanah Merah MRT station (EW4). Alight at the bus stop right in front of Changi Chapel and Museum (after Changi Women's Prison/Drug Rehabilitation Centre). Click here to view MRT route map.
