Bangkok Hotel Tips by 1W1V

Three nights before heading to Tibet. The location is great and as we had to shop before going to Lhasa, we really appreciate the location.
The rooms are ok but not spectacular. Service is ok too.
Our room had a view on the WTC and main road. It was a bit noisy !!!
Very average hotel @ approx. 50 USD/2000 Bath.

Just 2 nights.
The room are old and smelly.
The massive hotel cannot deal with so much guest !
The breakfast is worst than a food distribution in South Sudan (I know what I am talking about).
Too many families, to little facilities.
This hotel is especially targeting Indian and Middle East Customer.

Stay approx 9 nights there in 3 different stay.
Pretty much standard but the room have a lot of windows. Give a nice impression but if you need a 100 % dark room to sleep then you should not consider this hotel.
The gym and pool are nothing special.
The location (close to Pratunam market and next door to Pantip Plaza) is great.

Unique Qualities: Nice view if you are high enough, great location.
Beware, during my last stay, they were building a huge shopping mall just next door to this hotel. Can be a bit noisy by now !

Ok, I know what some of you will say !!
This is more a brothel than a hotel.
Indeed there is a lot of action around and most of the guest are Single western male but nevertheless, this hotel is affordable, troubleless with a very friendly staff.
1270 Bath/single-double with breakfast.
Pls prefer rooms with even-nbr and above 6th floor like 678 or 780 as they look on the back side of Sukkhumvit Rd and therefore much more quiet.

Unique Qualities: Nice swimming pool, good location, BTS, friendly staff, wifi available.

Just stay one night there in may 2005.
The room are ok with nothing special except the load speaker in the bathroom so you do not miss any quote of business channel.
The hotel was very busy but the staff in the day well trained. Got a technical problem in the night and that was another story !!! Poor english speaking staff except one at the reception !

Stay there 3 nights in May 2005.
Room are ok, big enough and with a small terrasse. I stayed room 1017 on 10th floor which gave me the advantage to have a view !
UNfortunately, my room was located by the storage room for the cleaning material meaning that @ 7 am, the staff was coming around to pick up their equipment !
I would recommend then to stay room 1009 and lesser !

As they are part of world Hotel, I ask them to validate my stay on my star alliance card but I was told that this is only ok for reservation made directly to the hotel and not via a travel agency.

The hotel, staff and room are ok but if the location seems good, it is in fact badly located (to me). Nearly in the heart of pratunam, it takes you 10 min to reach Petchaburi Rd as you have to use the small Pratunam street full of people and vendors !!!!
and that's annoying.
Pool is really nothing !
Huge qty of guest !

Stay there for 6 nights in Dec 2006. My feeling was mixed especially I didn't notice that I would not be in the very hotel in itself but in an annex. So beware when you book.
The room was big enough but I was not impressed by the glass bathroom and the doorless toilet !!!!!! I was told it is a concept but so far I was not convinced.
Amenities were ok especially with the magazines.
The breakfast was really nothing special for a 100 USD Bkk hotel !
The location is far on soi 24 so if you are a bit tired you have to catch up a taxi to the end of the soi. The shuttle tuk tuk is not very convenient !
The gym and the pool is quite small and in the main building.
The staff is quite friendly and helpful.
Pls note that there is a kind of Davis "complex" which includes some good restaurants and a starbucks coffee shop.
Book through www.asia-discovery.com and paid about 100 USD for double, nett including breakfast.
Next time, I will not go there anymore unless very favorable price.

Stay there in March 2007 for one week.
It is kind of aparthotel where the room looks like a small appartment with kitchen, living room, office table, ....
Paid about 3000 Bath/night with breakfast
Usual facilities like gym and pool.
The staff was nice and available.
Breakfast was ok but nothing special
The location is great near BTS and Emporium
If I can, I would stay there again.

The room size was ok but located close to the elevator and I had some noise all night !!!
The breakfast was nothing special.
