If you have yet to visit Sweden then don't leave it too late and miss out! It's capital city is probably where most people start and it's where I started on my second trip to the country.
I had dreamed of visiting here for about 25 years and was so glad I managed it. However, time was limited and I didn't get to see anywhere near all the things that I wanted to see. So allow yourself time. The local travel bureau have brochures of all sorts and information seems to readily available. The people in the streets are happy to help and all seem to speak English. It's a language all children learn in school and seem to maintain. (What has happened to so much of my French?)
Stockholm is the base for heading out to see more of the country and if you have an extra four days then travelling from Stockholm to Göteborg (Gothenberg) on board a small floating hotel like the Jüno is a great way to see a strip of the country from coast to coast travelling through the canals, locks and lakes of the magnificent Göte Canal.
Stockholm ... an experience in itself or the gateway to the rest of Sweden.

If you wander down from the Old City to the Harbour you might just see one or two small ships docked there. One is called the Jüno. It's small ship that was used to transport goods from one side of Sweden to the other. From Stockholm to Göteborg or vice versa. Today these two ships each carry about 60 people in small cabins. They have become floating hotels that take you from coast to coast through the old canal/lake system known as the Göta Kanal.

It's a great experience to stay on the Malardrottningen but not for a long stay ... a couple of nights only is best... more travel advice
