Hi everyone,
I searched hours ago for a forum on Rio de Janeiro and the keywords lead me to this web site that at first I am not too keen to discover further. At close scrutiny, I think this site is interesting as coincidentally I'm planning a trip for next year's 2005 Rio de Janeiro Carnival on February, searching for accommodations down there and would like to have some guidance and advices. This morning when I drove my parents to the airport for Punta Cana, I let them know that I'm planning to go to the next year's (2005) Rio de Janeiro Carnival so my dad asked me to call my uncle in Geneva, Switzerland to get his impressions of his this year's Carnival visit. He told me it is a 'must see' event that anyone has got to experience once in their lifetime. He joined an organized tour, but I am interested on an adventure tour arranged by myself. Some sort of discovery tour on my own. With my uncle's extensive experience in travelling he finds RIO and the carnival unequal in comparison with other festivals in the world. He told me definitely I have to go!
While waiting for answers let me introduce myself. I'm Canadian with Vietnamese origin. Came to Canada in 1981, lived in Regina, Saskatchewan for the fist 4 years then moved to Montreal, Quebec. Same way as some folks on this virtual tourist web site who live in Montreal have already described to you, Montreal is a beautiful multicultural metropolitan city.
As stated in my goal on my web site (link above) I have many friends from Canada who are from many different nationalities as well friends from different countries. I'm a type of person who live more for friends than for myself. Been asked to build this home page I don't know what to post since I'm a workaholic and I'm not as lucky as most of you who travelled to many different places. Can you imagine that since 2001 I didn't have my vacations yet? At my work they don't let people postpone their vacations nor take time paid off in lieu of vacations. When one doesn't take vacations, you forfeit, but at my present office I'm the only one who get that exception for the previous years but not this year any more because of my accumulations.
While waiting for having my own trip and have it posted here, at work I have a colleague who would like to go to Indonesia for her vacations at the beginning of this year. Since we had a lot of turmoil in Indonesia recently, I suggested her to go to Vietnam. Finally she decided to visit Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos and Thailand. I have made her an itinerary tracker so she can post live her move every couple of days, written her diary and communicated with her family and friends via that web site. It is interesting to link you to that main page.
Finally before I sign off to make this more official this is the link to my recent picture (2004). I'm the one faded in the background at the back of the DVD cover I made for my friends (and in the inside flyer I'm in the orange bubble), the rest are part of all my friends and each of them come from different nationalities. Last but not least, if anyone of you knows me in person, let me greet you HELLO. Isn't it a small world!
Take care and who knows maybe we will be meeting one day somewhere.

I would like to introduce you one of our hostess reporters for our VT videoclip, Miss Gita Bali. We would like to present to you some major events, travel guides, expositions in Montreal and anywhere we find it best to explore and discover. Just try to put a cherry on the cream, another form of presentation to make it live instead of traditional pictures posting.
A little intro of Miss Bali. I first discover her in 1995 when she entered a beauty pageant I organized. She became Miss Asia-Canada 1995. She is a subtitute teacher and loves to travel too. She brings the sunnyside up of fun and joy everywhere she is. Speaking of fluency in eight different languages, I think she can be our virtual hostess and definitely can bring a little fun to our VT community whenever she is available. What do you think?

Bonne fête. On dit que les enfants n'aiment pas avoir leurs fêtes en même temps que Noel parce qu'ils ne recoivent qu'un cadeau plutot que deux par an comme les autres. J'en profite pour te souhaiter une merveilleuse année 2006
