We stayed in the Barcelo Bavaro Beach Resort. It was pretty nice for the most part.Compared to the Barcelo Maya in Mexico, which we stayed at the year before, our experience wasn't as great.The food was ok.I traveled there with 5 other people and each day at least one of us was sick from the food.I'm not saying it's the hotel's fault,just be careful because many people's stomachs aren't as used to the food.They did however, put way more alcohol in their drinks there than in Mexico.
The beach was very nice.There were enough palm trees to give off pretty decent shade and it was never overly crowded.The staff was ok.It was hit or miss.Some were very helpful/pleasant,and others were sort of cold even when trying to communicate with them in Spanish.It made me appreciate the staff at the Barcelo Maya in Mexico even more though.The grounds were very nice and it was nice that the resort was so large that you could walk around to the Casino,Garden,Caribe, etc.
Unique Qualities: You can eat in the "nicer" restaurants at any time as opposed to the Barcelo Maya in Mexico where you are only allotted 2 "nicer" dinners after staying there for 7 days or so.
