How I got there I had always wanted to travel to Africa, but on someone else's dime. I applied for a study abroad scholarship in college and to my great surprise, I won. I had been given several thousands of dollars to do some research into the practices of traditional medicine in Zimababwe.
In March of 1992, I set off to Zimbabwe. I had not read a single book about life in ZIm. Looking back, I realise I could have prepared better. However it all turned out well with a little luck and good timing. |
