Parc de la Gatineau Gatineau Park Review

Located about 15 minutes away from Parliament Hill on the Quebec shore of the Ottawa River, Gatineau Park is a beautiful conservation park. Set in the magical landscape of the Gatineau Hills, the park is open to visitors year round and it offers numerous nature trails along with a 30 km scenic parkway. While you're there, don't forget to stop by the Mackenzie King Estate (see my things to do tip)!

A walk along the Rideau Canal and Dow's Lake

I had to go to Ottawa for a meeting and only had a couple hours off in my schedule so a colleague took me on a walk around Dow's Lake and the Rideau Canal, along the Queen Elizabeth Parkway. We saw some very nice houses and floral arrangements, and I got to feed some Canadian geese that were hanging out by the lake! We didn't have time to stop at the Pavilion, but it is possible to rent paddle boats, canoes, kayaks, bicycles and more. There are also a few restaurants with patios overlooking the lake - a really great spot to discover in Ottawa!
