"Virginia's Capital" Richmond by Jefie
Richmond Travel Guide: 841 reviews and 1,307 photos
Founded in 1742, the city of Richmond became the state capital in 1779. The city was at the center of the American Revolution and it became the Capital of the Confederate States of America during the American Civil War. Unfortunately, many buildings were destroyed in 1865 when the city was captured by General Grant, but there is still lots to be seen in and around Richmond.
- Pros:Good place to go on a day trip
- Cons:Not as exciting as Williamsburg or Virginia Beach...

Nice tips on Richmond. I've never been there, but would especially love to visit the Edgar Allan Poe museum.
Great tips Isa! I've driven up and down the east coast of the US so many times but have never really taken the time to explore along the way. One of these days I'll make it to Richmond!
