| Memorial to the victims of the Salem witch trials |
|
| | Founded in 1626, it seems like the little town of Salem will forever be remembered for the witch trials of 1692 that resulted in the execution of 20 innocent people. Ironically, the name Salem was derived from the word Shalom, meaning peace - but intolerance and violence marked the early beginnings of this Puritan City. Although the witch hunt has been over for more than 400 years, there's still an aura of mystery about the town, mainly kept up by the numerous witch museums and occult shops and boutiques, so visitors looking for a spooky adventure will most likely enjoy their trip to Salem! |
