Boston, capital of Massachusetts and one of the United States' most popular tourist destinations, needs no introduction. Early settlers arrived in Boston at the beginning of the 17th century and as the "Cradle of American Independence", the city still bears testimony to such nation-building events as the Boston Massacre and the Boston Tea Party. Today, Boston is a beautiful city - the surprisingly delightful mixture of old and new architecture somehow reflects how the city has succeeded in moving from its bright, early beginnings to evolving into the country's cultural and intellectual center in the 19th century, and to becoming a vibrant academic and research center in the 21st century. |
| | My travelmates In June 2005, I spent a gorgeous (and hot) long weekend in Boston with two highschool friends, Benjamin and Alain, along with Alain's girlfriend Annie-Claude. The four of us had an awesome time touring in and around Boston but of course, 4 days wasn't nearly enough to see everything the city had to offer - that's why I was thrilled when Sylvain suggested spending a week in Boston in May 2008! I quickly dusted off my copy of Susan Wilson's "Literary Trail of Greater Boston" and off we were to explore the city that has inspired the likes of Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, Louisa May Alcott, Henry James & more! |

gilabrand Thu Apr 2, 2009 14:39 UTC I see I still have lots of places to go. Love the library idea! | breughel Wed Jul 16, 2008 10:51 UTC Hello Isa, I read with interest your tips on Boston. It happens that our TV is showing the series "John Adams" so that I'm pleased to see how the city looks nowadays. | nomorewars Tue Jul 8, 2008 23:38 UTC Isa, Boston is one of my most favorite cities in the U.S. (second only to my hometown of Lowell, Ma). I am a literature nut & absolutely love the fact that many of my favorite authors once resided in the city. | CesVT Sat Jun 21, 2008 15:26 UTC Boooh, ça me fait tellement envie!! Comment on peut faire pour tout faire?? :-S Superbe page, ma belle! Il faut que je m'y mette aussi - peut-être pas de façon aussi magnifiquement 'poussée'... xoxo |
