"NOLA: History by day, party by night!" New Orleans by Jefie
New Orleans Travel Guide: 4,159 reviews and 7,175 photos
Unlike many people, what first drew me to New Orleans was not the idea of partying all night on Bourbon Street - I was rather interested in discovering the city's unique history and diversified culture, and in getting a good taste of its food and music. Well, not only did I get to do that during my 5-day visit, but I also ended up partying with all the others on Bourbon Street!
New Orleans is a place like no other in the U.S., and it has a lot to offer: the few guided tours we went on were incredibly interesting, and had we had more time there are several more we could have gone on. Everyone we met was incredibly kind and friendly, and proud of living in the Big Easy. They all seemed to enjoy sharing their stories of "N'awlins", whether they be good or bad, and took special pleasure in their city's quirkiness. I doubt very much my humble travel page will do this great city any kind of justice, but I do hope it will inspire other travellers to add this destination to their wishlist, and then they too will know what it means to miss New Orleans!!
- Pros:The way its history and culture are reflected in the food, music, architecture and people
- Cons:For some reason, every night one of the bands was playing "Don't Stop Believing"
- In a nutshell:A place where you can fill your mind, heart, soul & stomach!

I just wanted to thank you for this set of pages! You got to see a lot and obviously had a great time doing it! Your pages were excellent! You got to see all the highlights and some of the great food and music. New Orleans was once my hometown, though my heart has never really left in a lot of ways. Perhaps you will get to see the Carnival one day:) Did you see Preservation Hall (its on the way to Pat O's)? Salut
Nice page Isa. The historic homes have character to match the former residents. Luck was with you when you checked in , all that free spirits, no wonder you needed hot dogs.Hopefully we will visit early 2012.
Interesting time spent in the Biggggggg Eazzzzzzzy Isa..looks like loads of fun and some really tasty food adventures...Mission accomplished the other night..connected with Caroline and I have the "stuff"...Thanks Isa..I hope you bought some for yourself too.. :o) You've got mail!!
Looks like a great place to visit! Funny you mention a cooking class - I've done exactly that aujourd'hui!
Yes, you have added lots of fine new tips since I last looked at this page. I’m glad you had some competent and entertaining guides on those tours. (After reading your e-mail I got out my CD of The Merry Widow and started listening again.)
Great tips so far!x
Hello, Isa! Thanks for your page!
