The beautiful historic city of Toledo is often called "the city of three cultures", thanks to a period known as "La Convivencia" during which Moors, Jews and Catholics lived together harmoniously. The amazing architecture of the city still bears witness to their presence and diversity, which is one of the reasons why Toledo was named World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1986. |
| | . For some strange reason, Toledo reminded me of my hometown of Quebec City - perhaps because it is a walled city, perched up on a hill surrounded by a river, where you immediately feel like losing yourself in the charming, winding streets. There is no arguing with the great Cervantes who described it as "The glory of Spain, and the light of its cities"! |
