Cafe Le Petit Pont is a great example of all the little, pretty inexpensive restaurants you can find in the Latin Quarter. Its location is great, just across the bridge from Ile de la Cite and Notre-Dame. Service was great, the atmosphere on the patio was nice despite the fact that people were smoking left and right, and I got to taste the home specialty called a "poelon", and it truly was one of the best meals I've had while in Paris!

Favorite Dish: I went for the raclette poelon, which was a blend of potatoes, country ham and cheese - I can't even begin to describe how good it was!! Very rich too, but who cares?!

We stumbled upon La Taverne Saint-Germain as we were walking around the Saint-Germain-des-Pres neighborhood - it's located next to Brasserie Lipp and in front of Les Deux Magots; la Taverne wasn't nearly as crowded as its famous neighbors, which made it quite attractive! And I have to admit that after all the bread and cheese we'd had, it was kinda nice to go for something different so we ordered the homemade sauerkraut along with Belgian fries and mayo, and it was de-li-cious!!We topped it all off with sweet Alsacian wine and a creme brulee, and we literally couldn't have asked for more!

Favorite Dish: If you like sauerkraut, go for it! Even if you don't, just give it a try ;o)

If you love books as much as I do, you'll be delighted with La Fourmi Ailee! Located in an old bookstore of the Latin Quarter, the place doesn't seem to have changed all that much since the days when Sorbonne students would go there to pick up a few books. The walls are still lined up with bookshelves, which of course makes for a great atmosphere! Oh and by the way, the food's really good too ;o) We all went for very different meals (I had fresh pastas a la Provencale, Debora had the beef carpacio and Sylvain had the "assiette fumee") and we were all very pleased with what we ordered. Service was a little slow, but we had a good bottle of wine so it didn't really matter. All I can say is that it really put me in a good mood to go shopping at Shakespeare and Company just around the corner!

7eme Sud specializes in southern, or "a la provencale" dishes. We went there with friends and really enjoyed the nice, casual atmosphere of the place. We all went for pasta (there were many different types to choose from) and it was excellent! Service was great, there were a few items on the menu that seemed pretty expensive, but we didn't pay too much for our meal.

  • Restaurant Name: La Charcuterie Alsacienne

We found this great little cooked meats shop on rue Vaugirard, near our hotel. They have absolutely everything you need for a picnic: cold cuts, cheese, salads, quiches and more! They specialize in traditional Alsacian dishes and also offer a great selection of Alsacian wine (riesling, sylvaner, etc.). Everything we tried was soooo delicious and we couldn't believe how little we had to pay for how much we got! The owners were also super nice and took the time to chat with us and made us feel like regulars. This is one of the places I will definitely go back to next time I'm in Paris!

Favorite Dish: They had an amazing goat cheese pie and if you like dry sausage, ask for a "gendarme" :o)

  • Restaurant Name: Glacier Berthillon

If you visit Ile Saint-Louis and wonder what that big line-up is all about, well it's about Glacier Berthillon! Berthillon is famous all over the world for its delicious sorbets and ice creams that come in flavours as tempting as ginger caramel, Grand-Marnier, tiramisu, litchees and wild strawberry. Of course they're not exactly cheap, but sometimes you just deserve a good sorbet! And if you feel like you deserve even more, you can stop by the Berthillon tea house located at 29 rue Saint-Louis-en-l'Ile. A great Paris experience!

Favorite Dish: I had the "orange sanguine" sorbet and I would definitely recommend it!
