Alor Star, the capital of the northen State of Kedah, Malaysia and also the oldest Malay Kingdom in Malaysia. The name of the city came from the Star tree and also its location which is near a small stream (in Malay word, alor mean stream). Alor Star is the major rice and rubber trading centre of Malaysia and also not to mention the birth place of the two most famous Prime Minister of Malaysia i.e. Tunku Abdul Rahman and Tun Dr. Mahatir.
The city has about 200,000 in population and was founded by the Sultan of Kedah 280 years ago. The achievement of the city can be noticed from the vast paddy field field just outside the city and also the ultra modern Alor Star Tower (16th tallest in the world). It is one of the cleanest and friendliestcity in Malaysia. |

Great place of Kedah, I was in Sg Patani for a project but it was many years ago. Now I m back in Japan. |
