AFRICAN SMILES
(Written In Malawi 2004)

So White; so clear,
Nothing to fear.
Left behind,
here to unwind.

No longer in pain,
smiling in the rain.
Children cheer and shout,
this is what life's all about.

Young and free,
Africa is like me.
Elephant trunks,
Darwin Spunks

Here they have so much less,
yet they smile and they bless.
Thankful for what they have,
while I miss homemade Aussie Pav.

The beat of the drums,
Masai womens hums.
Zanzibar Remedy,
like a fish eagle I am free.

My past is forgotten,
the overland pauses for a hen
Lions growl like the man,
my heart misses; god damn.

Malawi hills,
river rafting thrills.
I've traveled many miles,
to learn these African Smiles.

But I know I'll smile like that once more,
when again I explore....
