| | Australias largest National park would have to be one of the most beautiful places in the territory. A world heritage site it is a journey into our past, featuring rock landmarks and Aboriginal art paintings which date back thousands of years. It is like journeying into another prehistoric world.
Whether watching sunsets from Crocodile Dundee's famous phone call point on Ubirr Rock looking down on Yellow waters, Swimming in one of its amazing waterholes like at Barramundi Gorge of checking out its amazing abundance of wildlife including of course the Crocodile and the territory's national bird the Jabiru. Or even those buffalo. Kakadu is something that withstands time and will remain with you even long after you leave it. |
| | The park contains more than 60 species of mammals, 289 different birds, 132 species of reptiles, 25 species of frogs, 55 species of freshwater fish and over 10 000 species of insects.
The rich natural resources of Kakadu have sustained human habitation for at least 25 000 years and possibly 40 000 to 60 000 years.
The saying is that you will never never know if you never never go. And its so right. I was surprised over and over and over again by this amazing place and its stunning beauty. |

TheWanderingCamel Sat Aug 27, 2005 11:18 UTC Good stuff here - any bird pics? Definitely on my "Places to go" list. leyle | roamer61 Thu Mar 17, 2005 21:31 UTC Great page on Kakadu. Would like to see some animal pics though. Didn't get to go there when I was down under since it didn't fit into my schedule. Plus it was the wet season on the top end. | K.Knight Wed Jan 12, 2005 07:04 UTC Great start! I love Kakadu and have been there 4 times already. There is something special about watching the sunset at Ubirr rock and the sunrise on yellow waters. |
