"Kisoro" Kisoro by Zanzibargirl

Kisoro Travel Guide: 0 reviews and 0 photos

Kisoro is the town which is used as an overnight base for Gorilla trekking into Mgahinga National Park. Located 3 hours, 88 km from Kabale, there is a winding road up over the very steep hillsides between through agricultural farmland that winds its way to the town that is the gateway to the gorilla's.

On the way, the Travellers Rest is a very interesting spot to have a look. It was the hotel in which Dian Fossey stayed & hid under the bed to escape and lived many of her years, describing it by saying "It was my second home". They also do a fantastic meal. We ate dinner there and it was absolutely fabulous.

Pros and Cons
  • Pros:It was great to walk through an African town and experience the culture, we got to chat to locals and immerse ourselves in a town for a change instead of just driving through it
  • Cons:Wish I had some pictures
  • In a nutshell:Gateway to the gorilla's
