"Kroonstad" Kroonstad by Zanzibargirl
Kroonstad Travel Guide: 1 reviews and 6 photos
Kroonstad is on the main tourist route on the N1 from Cape Town to Johannesburg. It makes for an excellent overnight stop for those traveling the N1 route, and was where I stayed one overnight in what would have to be one of the most comfortable cool little B&B's I have ever visited.
Kroonstad is named supposedly after a horse called Kroon (which means Crown), owned by Voortrekker Sarel Cilliers. According to folklore the horse had a mishap and drowned in a stream in the towns place which was named Kroonspruit.
Located on the Vals River, it is popular for Angling. Other activities and sites around the town include its historical buildings, Kroonpark Resort which has waterslides, pools and associated entertainment and the Sarel Cilliers Museum.
- Pros:Great B&B and cute town
- Cons:cant think of any
- In a nutshell:One horse town after the crown
