Chobe National Park is the 2nd Largest National park in botswana, and is known for having a high concentration of Elephants. (It didn't dissapoint - especially with the display of the lone Bull elephant bathing in its home in the Chobe River). At the time of my day tour the lands along the Chobe River in which the national park borders were high, flooding some of the surrounding villages.
My day tour was awesome, consisting of breakfast, a morning game drive safari (which was filled with many animal spottings - just not that elusive Male Lion that I am still hanging out to see) and an afternoon lunch on the pontoon boats on the river where we watched our friendly elephant dance and my friend who was travelling and I pretty much had the boat to ourselves.
Chobe covers approximately 10566 square kilometres and is divided into four distinctly different ecosystems - Serondela's lush plains and forests, Suvuti marsh land, Linyanti swamps and the dry hinterland in between.
Botswana's Elephant population is currently estimated at 120,000. Other than the elephants it has great game viewing. Notable for huge herds of buffalo and zebras, lechwe, Chobe bushbuck and being the southernmost point where puku antelope can be seen. It is also home to over 450 bird species.
The national park gets its name from obviously, the Chobe river, which is on its northern boundary.
- Pros:Watching the Elephant Dance
- Cons:Doh, lost my role of film, thanks 4 the pics Rod
- In a nutshell:A great addition to my journey

Great photos in both your tips and t'logues!! I am already looking forward to experiencing Chobe for myself - in several months time :-( We too are planning a trip out of Vic Falls, taking 6 days in total for Botswana. Thanks for the info!
Breakfast with monkeys sounds fantastic to me, even if they are uninvited guests! Great photos!
Sheryn, I can't believe that Anne and I went on the exact same boat in Chobe! It was a great river cruise with lots of room to walk around! Love your photos!
