Amsterdam - the most 'colourful' city in the world

Amsterdam in a weekend

Clogs on display at a souvenier shop...
I think I don't need to think of titles anymore. They are always like "Paris in a day", "Venice in a day", "Amsterdam in a weekend". What to do ? That's the best I can manage in between my business trips :-)

Travelled to Amsterdam from Brussels over a weekend.

I found Amsterdam to be a bit chaotic, unlike many other European cities. A road being shared by cars, trams, cyclists. And coming from this part of the world where the direction of traffic is the other way around, it was fun crossing the streets. Look left, look right, look left again and look right again before crossing the road. And even with all the precautions, bump into a cyclist coming at you at 60 kmph :-)

However, its that element of chaos that adds character to Amsterdam.

It takes a little while to get used to the place, but once you get familiarized, its fantastic. The architecture of the buildings, the canals, the tulips (even in winter !!! wonder how it would be in the summers) - marvellous.

Dam Square, Leidseplein Square, Skinny Bridge, Rijksmuseum, Van Gogh Museum all bring back very happy memories.

Paris, Venice, Amsterdam - in that order that I need to visit again. And slow and easy this time around.

Now, what's this photograph ? These are 'clogs' on display at one of the souvenier shops. So colourful, no ? What better photograph than this for the most colourful city in the world !!!!
