Hi,

My name is Virginia. I have lived in this region all of my life. I live in a small town in Northern Alabama called Hartselle. Hartselle is located 10 miles south of Decatur, 30 south of Huntsville and approximately 80 miles north of Birmingham.

Being able to live in Hartselle is living in one of the best locations in the south. I am literally living in the country next to any city I would want to visit.

My husband and I have 2 children, excuse me, TEENAGERS, and a really spoiled cat named Sam. My husband I and have always had a dream that we would be able to show our kids as much of our nation as possible. We want them to be able to appreciate all the different aspects of our country.

I think my family's favorite vacation spots are the Smokey Mountains and San Antonio, Texas.

I hope what little I have to share with you is helpful, your comments and pages have helped me!!

Travels Summer '06

Wow, this year has flown by way too quickly. We've been able to go on a couple of "quickie" trips. Let's see, we went to LaGrange, GA for a baseball tournament with my son. We were able to tour "The Little White House" and visit the Warm Springs Museum. (Note, try to plan more than 10 minutes to tour The Little White House) Somehow we were able to run the grounds, with camcorder filming, get a really fast synopsis and make it to the Warm Springs location in 15 minutes.

We also went up to Memphis and had a good time going back to downtown. Seeing the Peabody and her famous ducks are a must for any Memphis visitor.

In June we traveled up to Gatlinburg for a few nights. Tried our hand at whitewater rafting on the Ocoee (loved it!!) We also found a really great horse rental place just outside of Gatlinburg.

We wound up our summer with a spur of the moment trip to the Gulf Coast. The trip itself was wonderful, however, I stupidly let my guard down and wound up letting my purse get stolen. Yes, I lost purse, credit cards, cell phone and cash. All I can say is just because you feel you are alone, you probably aren't. I was truly thankful for kind strangers who lent me their cells so I could stop credit cards and my own cell. To date, the only thing the thief got was a little cash.

I had hoped to download some of the great pictures, however, my computer is in it's stubborn phase and is not cooperating. Whenever I can manage, I will post lots of pictures as well as my latest pics of my kids.

Josh, now a senior, is preparing to apply to college (probably University of Alabama - ROLL TIDE!) and Elizabeth is entering the 8th grade (her braces are finally off).

I hope everyone's summer was as wonderful as mine. With any luck, my hubby will be in the mood to travel again real soon!!!
