Welcome to Kanazawa

A wonderful city. Located on the west coast of the island of Honshu, Kanazawa is a major centre in western Japan. Modern and booming, Kanazawa is known more for its culture and arts than its business prowess...not like other cities in Japan. Often called a "country Kyoto", Kanazawa was one of a very few cities its size that escaped World War II without a scratch. Its hundreds of temples and wonderful gardens - Kenroku-en Garden - continue to insire Japanese and international tourists that flock here to see "what Japan is really like". After nearly 400 years of peace and prosperity, Kanazawa has been and is known as "one of the purist Japanese cities" with its extensive crafts, art, and culture. Kanazawa produces nearly half of all the kimonos created in Japan, 99.9% of all the <i>kinpaku</i> (gold leaf), and has been a centre for <i>geisha</i> and the cultural arts for centuries. It is a picturesque city of 500,000 and can provide everything that one might desire -- the beach, the mountains, history, culture, and so much more. If you travel to Japan, you must see Kanazawa -- a glimpse at what Japan was and what it should be.
