"A Stange Little Island" United Kingdom by blint

until I took a Canadian to England that I realised it actually was beautiful. Everyone knows that Scotland and Ireland are beautiful, but sometimes England is only judged on London (where most tourists or foreigners go). I personally don't like London very much, past seeing the monuments. I think the best places in the south of England are: Brighton, Cambridge, Oxford and Bristol and Bath. In the north probably York stands out above others, and the Lake District. Though in my opinion the best city in Britain is Edinburgh. For it's architecture and the fact that it's overflowing with culture!
Also despite most Spaniards opinions: I LOVE BRITISH FOOD!!!! There is nothing wrong with it! You can't beat a Sunday Roast in a country pub or a curry on a Saturday night.

Nothing beats a roast on a Sundee!
Very nice local custom tips! Hm I like London....not so sure about British food, though... ;o)
Some Scottish seaside towns still have the rock candy and Edinburgh has its own form of this sweet only in little bits much softer in a tartan box!
great local custom tips

I actually thought the food was really good in London too! Youre not the only one! ha ha ha!
Ahhh the "Giant (or erotic) Gerkin" one of London's more modern buildings. I don't like London either - and I worked there for 20 years!
Yup, I definitely remember visiting England and my London friends saying "Let's have a curry!" Great page!
Hi "J", enjoyable tips. I have never heard of Cambridge referred to as a "Town", - "University City" is more in keeping. Glad you enjoyed the English tradition of "Sunday Roasts", regards Martin
The large pickle is very impressive! Can't wait to see more. G'day from Australia.
