What is Andalucia

Andalucia is an autonomous community belonging to Spain. What I mean by autonomous community is that this area has it's own local government called La Junta de Andalucia and is made up of the provinces of Almería, Cádiz, Córdoba, Granada, Huelva, Jaén, Málaga y Sevilla. Sevilla being the capital.

It is the most populated community in Spain although you can still find plenty of open spaces. It is the poorest community of Spain too though you can find the best weather and beaches here.

The people are proud to be from Andalucia although unlike the Catalans and the Basques they do not desire to break away from Spain.

They do not speak Spanish, they speak Andalu(z)!!!!!

Bandera

Here you can see the flag of Andalucia which shows Hercules in the emblem as it is though that the pillars of Hercules where positioned in the Gibraltar straights.

Blas Infante was the designer of the flag choosing green to represent hope and union and the white to symbolise peace and dialogue.

A very good overview of Andalucia - we have been to many, but by no means all of the places you mention. Perhaps next year we'll be back.......
