Mexico
So basically the western set and the Mexico set are built right next to each other. The Mexico set shows a typical Plaza Mayor scene. They have tried to keep everything as authentic as possible, but to me it still looked a little too well kept to be convincing as a really wild west or Mexican town.
This is a very small town in the cabo de gata region. We stopped of here for a quick photo stop so as to speak.
For a small one horse town it has a fantasic beach and this lovely old church which looks like the essence of tranquility surrounded by such unspoilt nature.
Driving along in my automobile..
Try and travel around Almeria in the daylight because the countryside is really worth seeing.
In this photo you can see some really interesting orange rock type things that look like a distant relative of Ayers Rock in Australia!
Directions: Driving through Almeria on the way to Valencia.
Puerta de Mexico
If you're doubting that the famous actors I mentioned before really did come to Almeria go into the Saloon and check out the many photos covering the wall. There are photos of everyone who has been there and they are all autographed as well.
The photos also include Beckham who did that wild west TV ad here in Almeria and Sting who did a music video here!
Address: Fort Bravo
Rugged Cabo
If you don't fancy all that cowboy stuff why not head to the coast instad of the desert and enjoy some of the most stunning coastline in Spain!
Many of Almeria's beaches have turned into tourist resorts but luckily this one has managed to escape all that so far.
Look at th photo isn't it incredible?!? I love coastline which has stacks, arches and other similar geographical features.
You can also find your own tiny private beaches if you want or go rock climbing!
Directions: If you don't have your own car buses go from Almeria city
Say Queso
We arrived at Fort Bravo late on a rainy day; there were no one else there but us. It was good because we could take all the photos we wanted without brightly coloured tourists getting in the way.
They also put on a special show just for us in the Saloon. There were 3 actors all dressed as cowboys. Basically there were two friends and a Mexican and they were arguing about some stolen money. They decided to settle it by a poker game; at which point I decided to take a photo. All the actors shouted photo and they posed for me.
They had proper replica guns which made quite a noise. In the end the Mexican ended up killing the two cowboys, but the barman killed the Mexican.
The show was inclded in the price of our ticket and they gave us a used bullet as a souvenir.
Dinky Donkey
Yes, you can also visit the donkeys waiting for someone to remake a Jesus and Mary story!
They can be quite loud at feeding time!
These one humped camels wait here for someone to remake films such as Lawrence of Arabia.
There are two of them are they are very friendly and cute.
These poor little friendly creatures wait here for there next Hollywood blockbuster.
