The Albayzin
You sink into the seats a little and some of the paintings require an acquired taste but other than that this is a fantastic place and very economical for the quality you get.
Favorite Dish: The dishes are big and freshly made with lots of flavour. I have been back a few times and every time I try something different.
The Pizzas are great but small so if you have a big appetite go for a pasta dish. Don't skip the starters because they are wonderful too.
Address: Calle Elvira
Comparison: less expensive than average
Directions: the road than runs off of Plaza Nueva and joins to the arc of Elvira in Plaza Triunfo.

The Don't go place from the outside!
This is a very nice looking arabic restaurant just off of Plaza Nueva on Calle Elvira. If you notice, it is always half empty and if there are people inside they are always tourists.
Some of the food looks good even though it is expensive, but I am warning you against it as I got BAD food poisoning after eating here.
Favorite Dish: I had some sort of chicken dish with honey and plums and for dessert I had a traditional Arabic pastry type thing which sounded a bit like Chewbacca (like the character from star wars).
So if you do try it you might want to avoid these things!!!!
Address: Calle Elvira
Comparison: more expensive than average
Directions: Just off off plaza Nueva. It's big and ornate looking. With VERY small tables and chairs!

Ranchitos, The Realejo, Granda
There are about 5 Mexican restaurants in Granada. The best on I've tried so far is Opposite Campo del Principe in the Realejo(Calle Molinos 14). It is small and very colourful inside. It is a mall run operation by the look of it. The name is Ranchito, it is new to the neighbourhood. Call: 958288824
There is another Mexican just before Ranchitos called Cantina Mexicana. It is actually run by English people! It is a medium sized restaurant and if you don't want your food too spicy this is the place to go. Though it is quite expensive for the quality.
The other Mexican is called Chile Grande and it is on Ancha de La Virgin which is near the Corte Ingles on the way to the river. Please take a look at my Chile Grande tip!
Favorite Dish: From Ranchito: The taco or Enchilada in a rich sauce made from chocolate and picante (mole). The Acapulco nachos are good and come with a nice spicy sauce. I recommend the Piña Coladas to drink (which features in the photo below!) and for afters the Café Kaluha.
From the English run restaurant (Cantina Mexicana) the incredible Margaritas made from Kiwi, lemon or Strawberry are the best the restaurant has to offer. Though they are 5 euros a go.
Comparison: about average
Directions: In the Realejo in fron of Campo del Principe.

Alhambra
Nice atmosphere and good food for a reasonable price. Although it is not as good as the previously mentioned Italian. I think it is a bit of a chain restaurant. At least I know that there is another branch on the coast.
Favorite Dish: The lasagne or the Diavola pasta.

Near Plaza Nueva
I have been to Yamato twice now and I love it. Although my Japanese neighbour said they have had to cut a few corners with the ingredients therefore to her it's not authentic. It is the most authentic Japanese food you're going to get in Granada. All the other 'Japanese' restuarants in Granada advertise themselves as 'Chinese/Japanese' restaurants. That's like claiming to be a Italian/German restuarant.
Favorite Dish: We ordered the menu for 2 people that cost about 42€. This was absolutely fantastic. We also tried the Sushi boat, but that is a little more expensive.
Address: Yamato: C/Colcha 7. Kirin: C/Parraga 9
Comparison: about average
Directions: Yamato is just off Plaza Nueva and Kirin is beside the Aliatar cinema.

Smuf eats Mexican!
The decor inside is bright, colourful and cheery. Even the Menu's have a great design. It is open all day the prices are really good.
Favorite Dish: Try the Nachos Aztecas to start (the dishes are small -only 8 medium size nachos to a plate-so it's best to order separate starters). They cost 3.50€
The Fajitas are fantastic. You can share them or eat them all to your self!!! They cost 9.95€
If you like spices ask for the sauce hotter than the infierno sauce (remembering the Spanish, unlike the Mexicans, don't like spice). You can also get a side dish of Jalapeños.
To drink the best thing is a jug of strawberry (fresa) margarita which s frozen. Or for about 4.50€ you can get a cocktail.
For desert why not try their Café with Kaluha for 3€
Address: Ancha de la Virgin
Comparison: less expensive than average
Directions: Jus off a street opposite the back enterance of Corte Ingles. The front enterence of Corte Ingles is on Acera de Darro just down from Puerta Real.

Arabic tearoom
This tearoom is really well decorated. It looks beautiful and warm and has lovely art work on the walls. It is not just a tearoom but a restaurant too with a wide variety of food on the menu for reasonable prices. It also has a patio in summer with traditional arabic tables.
It is a great place to stop on the way up to the Alaicin or down from Sacromonte.
Address: Chapiz
Comparison: about average
Directions: It is up the hill at the end of the road next to the river by Plaza Nueva. Itis on the right hand side just before the turning for Sacromonte.

Tearoom Meknes
All around Plaza Nueva there are Arabic tea rooms that serve teas very different to that of England or North America. I recommend trying: Te Pakistani with milk, Sueños de Alambra with water, Jasmine Te(with water), Mil Flores (with water), passion fruit te (with water).
You can also get fresh fruit juices such as zumo de Naranja (Orange), limon (lemon),Mango or a mix for example Naranja, limon, kiwi, Fresa (strawberry) and banana. Or try the typical Arabic drink which is Lemon with Mint (limonada)
You can get great milkshakes too with all the same flavours as the fruit juices and more.
Favorite Dish: My favourites are all the tea's mentioned above, Limonada, Fresh orange and lemon juice and the banana milkshake.
Try the tea rooms: Kasbah or the one right at the top of the road looking down on everything.
You can also smoke traditional Arabic tobacco pipes for 8 to 10 euros (Which works out well if you share with friends). Try the Mint, rose or apple flavours if you can, though they usually offer strawberry and banana too.
Address: Calle Caldererias
Directions: Off Calle Elvira, heading up into the Albaicin District.
Price: less than US$10

The view from my house
After five years or ordering spicy food in Spain and it not being spicy I was so happy when I ordered the hottest thing on the menu and it actually was spicy!!!!!
Favorite Dish: The phal!
The nan bread isn''t very good though, nor the onion Bahji.
Try the special Indian wine they have made thmselves. It's a Rioja and really light. I really liked it.
Address: Calle de prats 6, 18002, Granada

Directions: By plaza de la Gracia. Vertually Infact it's almost in the plaza!
