On the European map thanks to Ryan Air Now there is a Ryan Air flight direct from London Stansted in the UK, putting Jerez on the European map and bringing British and foreign visitors to the area.
The province of Cadiz is a strange one as the Capital, named Cadiz as well, is a small peninsula that juts out from the mainland, making expansion impossible. Therefore the surrounding towns such as El Puerto de Santa Maria and Jerez have benefited from this, El Puerto for it's beach and Jerez from large businesses that have come to the area and of course it's international airport.
This has resulted in the transformation of Jerez, making it cleaner and prettier ready for it's new business and tourist trade. Jerez is 45 mins away from Cadiz Capital by Train and is in the very north of the province, making it very close to Sevilla too. |

kokoryko Thu Jun 12, 2008 20:51 UTC Hot in Jerez, but not as hot as Ecija, the frying pan of Andalucia! I liked a lot Andalucia during the “Semana Santa”, few years ago, but did not visit Jerez; so, I enjoyed reading your nice page, and I would be more radical: close the zoo! | Cristian_Uluru Thu Jan 31, 2008 19:06 UTC Interesting page!!! I hope to visit it soon!!! Ciao | nicolaitan Mon Jan 28, 2008 15:34 UTC very interesting page on the city we did NOT visit while in Sevilla, going to Ronda instead. Fino and lemonade sounds good to me. Nice to have an explanation of local customs as well. Email to follow. N. | alucas Sat Dec 29, 2007 12:06 UTC At last a page on Jerez from one of the locals ! Nice start, Julie, look forward to reading more about this great little town. We really enjoyed the Feria in 2006 - wouldn't mind going again. Great updates - keep it up ! |
