I discovered VT while I was planning our 2004 trip to Europe on the net. I am married and have two teenage children. My wife and I both love traveling. We met while we were attending the University of British Columbia where I studied business and she was in math and computer science. Although it was not our love for travel that got us together, I am always grateful to have found someone who shares the same passion in travel as I do. Our love for travel also greatly influences our children with whom we took on trips starting when they were as young as 9 months old. Whether it was just a day trip across the border to Washington State or a 3-week trip to Japan and China, we always enjoyed our time traveling together as a family. We just loved every moment of our journeys.

My first travel experience dates back to 1973 when my family emigrated from Hong Kong to Vancouver, Canada. On this trip, we stopped over in Tokyo for a night and on the next day we took a day tour of Tokyo before our flight to Vancouver. It was my first experience traveling to a foreign country and that experience forever planted the travel bug in me. While growing up in Canada, because of studying, lack of money and the need to work summer jobs, I never really went anywhere. In fact, I was never back on a plane again until I was 20 years old. The only trip I did remember vividly as a young teenager was the long drive from Vancouver, B.C. to Spokane, Washington to visit Expo 73. It was my first taste of long distance driving and my first introduction to this typical aspect of leisure life in North America. This experience also forever changed my life because this trip introduced me to nature and the beautiful scenery of the region in which I live. The ability to drive great distances to see nature gives you a sense of freedom that you could never have growing up on an Island like Hong Kong.

After my wife and I were married, we went on many trips together. We visited the following countries and places in the past, many of which we visited more than once. In the case of Japan and Hong Kong, both are our favorite travel destinations, it was more than 20 times.
