It seemed a bit silly to visit Romania and not spend some time in Bucharest, so after seven weeks on the road I found myself in this notorious European capital, seeped in not-so-awesome recent history. In all honesty Bucharest is just your average big city: there are restaurants, museums, parks, shopping centers, historical monuments... really, there's anything a visitor might be looking for. It definitely lacks the charm of Transylvania and the spirit of Maramures, but it's not necessarily a bad choice for those seeking an affordable European citybreak. Read on...
