Restaurant Name: Kanna Curry House
When you walk up to this restaurant you see people eating outside at the tables and the downstairs eating area is normally full. Right at the entrance there is an open chiller showcasing all the meat and seafood marinating in the curry. You pick what you want and leave it to the chef to cook for you while you settle down at a table. I prefer to eat upstairs as it is wonderfully cool from the airconditioning.
While waiting for your food to cook order the fresh coconut juice or one of the tropical fruit drinks on sale.
The waiter will start setting the scene with a big banana leaf placed in front of you with cutlery. He then scoops on rice and other accessories onto your banana leaf. Then you get a choice of dhal, chicken or fish curry. In our case we choose all three to try and they also gave us poppadums and Tairu yogurt as a side dish. Try the dry fried chilli with your rice as well and we also got given a small soup which was really nice.
One thing about this restaurant is the service. Seriously, you lose count with the number of times they come and check on you to make sure you have enough food.
Total bill came to RM80 including drinks. Dishes range from about RM5 to RM10 so you can see how we over ordered. Oh well at least we got to try everything.
When you've finished eating fold your leaf in half as a sign that you're done.
I have been to this restaurant twice now and look forward to going back.
Favorite Dish: We ordered fish, prawns, squid, chicken etc. Basically we ordered way too much for four people and it was a real effort to leave a minimal amount of leftovers. What a waste of food I thought but all of us were full to the max.
It was all cooked perfectly. The squid wasn't swimming in oil as it was deep fried just right and the chicken was moist and tender. The prawns were nice and crunchy and the fish was crunchy on the outside and all soft and moist on the inside.
Our drinks order consisted of coconut juice out of a coconut, guava shake and I can't remember the other drinks we had.
