Manila Bay: Manila's famous sunset

In my opinion, the famed sunset of Manila is the city's redeeming factor among its many flaws. While the city teems with squatters, harbors street criminals, and its rivers stench of dirt, these unsavory side of Manila are overshadowed by its picturesque sunset.

The Bay area is a favorite hang out of both locals and tourists especially at dusk when the golden shadow of the setting sun is reflected on Manila Bay's water.

More than a decade ago, the boardwalk was avoided by people due to incidence of petty crimes. However in the late '90s, the area was re-invented as a family spot and refurbished with colorful street lights, benches, food kiosks, playground, and al fresco pubs with live bands. This signalled another era for the boardwalk, now re-named Baywalk.

Again however, change in the city's administration in 2007 effected a change in the Baywalk's landscape. Gone were the pubs and food kiosks and what were left are the benches and street lights. Yet the place's appeal to the people has not diminished. It is the best place to view Manila Bay's famous sunset.
